Per la prima volta in Italia una mostra personale di Hassan Hajjaj, uno dei più quotati artisti marocchini del momento, come evento speciale del festival Film Middle East Now. Un progetto in collaborazione con l’Ambasciata del Marocco in Italia. Vogue Arabe, presenta 12 dei suoi lavori, realizzati nell’arco di oltre 10 anni, più una serie di abiti realizzati  dall’artista appositamente per questo progetto.Fin dal titolo, la mostra presenta un ironico e provocatorio richiamo al magazine Vogue, ai suoi shooting glamourous e patinati, molto spesso ambientati proprio nelle casba di Marrakesh o Casablanca. Se Vogue mette in scena modelle europee Hassan Hajjaj propone al pubblico una serie di ritratti delle sue donne marocchine che indossano vestiti ideati dall’artista stesso. L’uso degli accessori, il rimando a quelli delle griffe d’alta moda, i loghi che trascendono da qualsiasi memoria per l’orientalismo o la condizione della donna - giovane, molto velata, e al tempo stesso donne vestite che si trasformano in icone da riviste e star hip-hop - sono questi gli stilemi tipici degli ultimi lavori di Hassan Hajjaj. Kitsch e molto colorate, sovversive e stravaganti, le opere di Hajjaj cercano di riflettere sul modo in cui Oriente e Occidente si vedono reciprocamente, e sul confronto culturale che si innesca tra questi due mondi.“Con VogueArabe presento una serie di lavori realizzati negli ultimi dieci anni - dice  Hassan Hajjaj - metto in scena delle mie amiche, donne marocchine ma che potrebbero appartenere a tutto il mondo arabo, donne al tempo stesso fiere e reali: persone che vogliono mostrare la nostra cultura, l’orgoglio, la forza, i nostri abiti tradizionali, lo stile urban, il nostro swaga… ho usato tanti riferimenti alle griffe e ai marchi per aggiungere un pizzico di gusto, per dimostrare come alla fine siamo tutti uguali”.

For the first time in Italy, Hassan Hajjaj, an up-n-coming Moroccan artist will host a solo exhibition, for the Middle East Film Festival, a project in collaboration with the Embassy of Morocco in Italy.As shown in the title, the exhibition presents an ironic and provocative call to Vogue magazine, its glamorous and glossy photo shoots, which often are set in their kasbah of Marrakesh or Casablanca. As Vogue uses European models, Hassan Hajjaj will show the public a series of portraits of Morrocon women, who are dressed in the clothes designed by himself.The use of accessories, the reference to high-fashion brands, transcend the memory of Orientalism and the status of women - young, veiled and dressed all the same yet they have become icons from magazines to hip-hop culture - these are the stylistic features typical of the lastest works of Hassan Hajjaj. Kitsch and very colorful, subversive and extravagant works of Hajjaj which try to reflect on the way in which East and West see each other, and the cultural exchange that triggers between these two worlds.“With VogueArabe it present a series of works done in the last ten years - says Hassan Hajjaj - brought to life from my friends, Moroccan women that could belong to the Arab world, women at the same time fair and real: people who want to show our culture, pride, strength, our traditional clothes, style, urban, our swaga... I used many references to brands to add a touch of style to show how in the end we are all equal.
