La mostra  della fotografa palestinese Tanya Habjouqa e tra gli eventi speciali della quinta edizione del festival Middle East Now.  OCCUPIED PLEASURES è un reportage sui piccoli piaceri quotidiani della vita nei Territori Occupati. Tanya Habjouqa è una fotografa di origini palestinesi e nome di punta della fotografia contemporanea dal mondo arabo, e con questo progetto ha  vinto un prestigioso World Press Photo 2014, nella categoria "daily life", e ricevuto il Magnum Foundation 2013 Emergency Fund. Più di 4 milioni di Palestinesi vivono nei territori Occupati, a Gaza e a Gerusalemme Est, dove la situazione politica influisce nei più momenti più intimi della vita quotidiana. La possibilità di movimento è molto limitata, e la minaccia di violenze è spesso dietro l’angolo. Tutto questo crea un irrefrenabile desiderio per i più piccoli tra i piaceri, e un incredibile senso dell’humour verso le assurdità che 47 anni di occupazione hanno creato. Occupied Pleasures è un lavoro che esplora tutto questo, i rari momenti di tregua, di piacere e di divertimento nella vita dei palestinesi della West Bank e di Gaza, uomini e donne che vivono in condizioni politiche ed economiche difficili, che hanno plasmato la loro vita e la loro identità per decenni. Nonostante l'impossibilità per i palestinesi di condurre uno "stile di vita normale", e in mezzo a questa realtà stridente, gli uomini, le donne e i bambini riescono comunque a rubare alla realtà attimi di piccole gioie "che talvolta appaiono bizzarre" momenti modesti di felicità, che la fotografa ha raccontato con una serie di scatti dalla grande potenza visiva. A Gaza, dove 5 minuti di corsa in motoscafo incarnano il concetto di libertà per una generazione di giovani imprigionati in una enclave così densamente popolata; alle donne che fanno Yoga sullo sfondo delle colline dietro Betlemme, ai bambini che si tuffano in una piscina di plastica sotto gli ulivi della Cisgiordania, ragazzi che fanno parkour tra le maceri dei palazzi di Gaza oppure i muscolosi body builders che si esercitano in palestra, e poi le partite a carte in famiglia sui tetti del campo profughi Dehisheh, le ragazze che si fanno fotografare nell'esotico studio fotografico del parco divertimenti Banana Land di Jericho… "Piaceri occupati" che riuniscono in sé barlumi di speranza, dignità e risate, ognuno dei quali ignora e scaccia via gli stress e le fatiche emblematici di una realtà occupata.

The exhibition OCCUPIED PLEASURES presents the Palestinian photographer Tanya Habjouqa, an the event in collaboration with the fifth edition of the festival Middle East Now.The report on the little pleasures of daily life in the occupied territories, winner of the World Press Photo 2014.The exhibition Pleasures Occupied Palestinian photographer Tanya Habjouqa, will be staged at the Italian premiere for over a month, from April 11 to May 25, 2014, , as a special project of the fifth edition of the the festival.Tanya Habjouqa is a photographer of Palestinian origin and name of the tip of contemporary photography from the Arab world, and this project has just won a prestigious World Press Photo 2014 in the category of "daily life", and received the 2013 Magnum Foundation Emergency Fund.More than 4 million Palestinians living in the occupied territories, Gaza and East Jerusalem, where the political situation affects the most intimate moments of everyday life. The range of motion is very limited, and the threat of violence is often around the corner. This creates an uncontrollable desire for the least of the pleasures, and an incredible sense of humor to the absurdity that 47 years of occupation have created. Occupied Pleasures is a work that explores all this, the rare moments of respite, pleasure and entertainment in the lives of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, men and women living in difficult political and economic conditions that have shaped their lives and their identity for decades. Despite the inability of the Palestinians to lead a "normal lifestyle", and in the midst of this stark reality, men, women and children actually manage to steal the small moments of joy "that sometimes appear strange" moments modest of happiness, that the photographer told with a series of shots from the great visual power. In Gaza, where a 5-minute speedboat ride embody the concept of freedom for a generation of young people trapped in a densely populated enclave; women who do yoga on the background of the hills around Bethlehem, the children diving into a pool of plastic under the olive trees in the West Bank, guys who do parkour in the waste paper of buildings in Gaza or the muscular body builders who exercise in the gym, and then the card games at home on the roofs of the refugee camp Dehisheh, girls who are photographed in exotic photographic study of the amusement park Banana Land of Jericho... "Pleasures busy" combining in itself glimmers of hope, dignity and laughter, each of which ignores and chases away the stresses and strains emblematic of a reality occupied.
